We had our first Christmas (of many) at Nathan's aunt's house this weekend. They decorated cookies, played, opened presents, and got to wear some cool reindeer antlers. Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Fun!!!
A couple of Saturdays ago, Nana (Nathan's mom) took the girls to get their Christmas presents. She took them to the American Girl store. If you have a daughter, I recommend you going. It was so cool! Overwhelming, but sooooo cool!! The girls got to pick out a doll for Nana to take home and wrap for Christmas. Regan picked out Felicity. Kennedy's doll that she wanted was retired (Samantha), so she picked out a baby. Then, we headed off for lunch at the Olive Garden. It was a great day with the girls (and little man). :) Friday was the girls last day of school before the Christmas break. They celebrated the day with "Holiday" Parties. Here are just a few pictures of the great time that each of them had.
Kennedy's class did a book exchange. Kennedy ended up with "If You Take a Mouse to the Movies". (For all of you reading this saying that the title needs to be underlined instead of in quotes, I know this. I don't have that option on this screen.)
Kennedy decorating her gingerbread house. She ate more candy than she put on the house. :)
After all of the fun holiday parties at school we headed off to go to the Gaylord to see the Grinch Ice Sculptor. After the 3 hour trip, that should have only been 45 minutes, we paid an arm and a leg to get the girls in to see the Grinch and then go look at the sculptors. They had a blast.

What have we been up to?
Well, that's a good question...or shall I say, what haven't we been up to? :) At the beginning of November Kennedy had their school's annual fundraiser, The Husky Fun Run! The girls, my niece, and Mims, Nana, and myself walked in the fun run. (Mims was taking the picture)
I have been working on finishing up my classes (A&P II and Microcomputer Applications-fancy word for computer class). I think I will have an A for both classes. I have filled out my nursing application. I just have to wait on my transcript from this semester to send it in. (Everyone take a minute right now and say a prayer for me to be accepted this year [August 2010 start date] if it's God's will).

And last, but not least, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! I pray that 2010 is such a blessed year of prosperity, health, peace, joy, and love!
Merry Christmas!Posted by The Purnell Family at 12:42 PM 2 comments

7.0
I had my last dr. appointment yesterday. Yay!! Everything looks good!! I am dilated to a 4. He weighs 7.0lbs!! :)
We have to be at the hospital at 6am. My dr. that when I get there I am going to get everything hooked up, including my epidural. :) Then, around 8am she is going to come in and break my water. It won't be long after that and he'll be here. I can't wait!!
Please continue to pray for everything to go smoothly (epidural, delivery, both of us after delivery).
Thank you to everyone who has thought/prayed about us this week! I have felt it all. My stress level has not been as bad as I thought. (That might be different tonight when I'm trying to go to sleep.) :)
Have a great day! I'll post pictures when I can!

Well, it's been a crazy few days. I was in class on Tuesday and thought my water had broken. It stopped once I got home, so I didn't think anything of it. A friend of mine suggested that I call my dr. (this was Wednesday night). So, Thursday I called my dr. and she sent me to the hospital to get checked out. No water breakage, but I was dilated to a 3. I had my actual doctor appointment on Friday. She did an exam and I was still a 3. She was on call for the weekend, so that made me feel better. She didn't want to send me to the hospital then because she wanted to make sure his lungs were developed. I agreed because I don't want him out of my sight once he gets here. :) So, we went to the football game on Friday night, came home, and about 10:50 my contractions started. They were 10 minutes apart. I called my dr. at 1:30 in the am. She said when they become 5 minutes apart call her back. So, at 3:30am they got to where they were only 5 minutes apart. I called her and she told me to go on down to the hospital. We get down there and I have about two more contractions and they STOP!!!!! I was so mad. I had been up ALL NIGHT LONG! They have me walk around for an hour and recheck me. No progress, so they sent me home! :( Nice false alarm. I was so pumped to see him!
We get home and Regan is saying her ear hurts. Nathan (after being up since 3:30am) takes her to the dr. She has tonsillitis!! Great! Just what we all need the week before we have a baby!
So, Friday is the day! I have to be there at 6am on Friday morning! I am so ready! Y'all just say lots of prayers to get me through the week (pray specifically that the week will fly by) and Friday (for a healthy baby boy, healthy mom, and an easy delivery).

2 WEEKS!!!
Praise Jesus! We only have two weeks until we get to meet this little guy. :) Just please say a lot of prayers for my sanity, and tell Satan to get out of my head with horrible thoughts!
I had a dr. appt. today. Grant weighs 5.9lbs. Yea!! I think he will be the smallest actually. We'll see. Everything looks great!
The girls are so ready to see him. They don't understand too much of the whole "2 weeks" thing, so we have to tell them according to something that is going to happen. So, now it is "it will be after we go to the State Fair". What a way to mark the birthday! :)

Grandparent's Week
Last week at Regan's school was Grandparent's Week. Regan got to have several visitors. My grandparents (Mema and Papa) came up to see her and eat lunch with her. Then, on Friday my dad (Sug) and Nana came up there along with Nathan's mom (Nana). She loved every minute of it!! Thank you all for coming!

6:00AM
I had a doctor's appointment this morning. Everything went very good. He weighs 5.6 lbs. He gained just a little bit from last week, but gaining indeed. I am not dilated yet, but my cervix is soft. His heart rate was good (147bpm). She (my dr.) said everything looks good. His hands are HUGE!!! He definitely got that from his daddy. He was sticking his tongue out, rolling his eyes, and opening and closing his eyes. His little leg was bent and I could see how plump his little leg was. So precious!!
So, we are scheduled to induce on October 9th at 6:00am. Yea!!!! I am so pumped. I am quite sure that even though I have a MILLION things going on, that this will be the longest three weeks of my life!!

Watch Dog Dad
At Regan's school they have a program called Watch D.O.G.S. (Dad's Of Great Students) It is where Dad's sign up to go to the school for the whole day and do different things. Well, Monday was Nathan's Watch Dog day. Regan was so excited!! Nathan was excited because she was. :) They each got a Watch Dog shirt. Nathan had an actual schedule. He would go in classrooms all day to help kids with some leftover assignments, read to kids, walk throughout the halls and around the building to make sure that everything was safe and secure. He went into Regan's class several times. One time was during their recess time and he got to play Candyland with three other little girls and Regan. He got to eat lunch with Regan. She loved every minute of it. Nathan was blessed as well.
We went to gymnastics on Wednesday and Nathan recognized several kiddos whose classes he had gone into. One girl was in Regan's gymnastics class. He looked at me and said, "She's going to tell Regan here in a minute that your daddy doesn't know how to read." I cracked up laughing!!

Soccer Game
Kennedy had her first soccer game last Saturday. She was so excited to go, but not so excited about playing. She doesn't like to be hot, so that is a real problem when it's 90+ degrees outside. She also didn't like the fact that if she didn't score she got mad. She also felt that she had "lost" if she didn't score. We are working on teaching her a few lessons about sportsmanship. :) I am quite sure the game for tomorrow will be rained out (we need the rain). Here are some pictures from last week.

A Little Scare
Yesterday I had my weekly appointment which consists of a sonogram and a NST (non stress test). The sono looked AWESOME! Everything is measuring good (heartbeat, fluid, his body weight (4.2lbs.), etc.). Then, I went in to do my NST. Well, they hook you up to two monitors. One monitors the heartbeat of the baby and the other contractions. Then, I push a button when I feel the baby move. I have to lay there for 20 minutes for the NST. I finished my test and left the dr. office and went to Babies R Us for a baby shower gift. Well, I had just walked in the door and the dr. office called. She told me she wanted me to go eat something and go to the hospital to triage. She said everything looked good, they just weren't happy with the NST. Well, I go into panic/trying to be calm mode. I call Nathan. He comes and gets Kennedy, I get something to eat, and head to the hospital. I get there they check me in, ask A LOT of questions, hook me up to the monitors and I am there for over an hour. The baby is good...heart rate good...no contractions...etc.
Well, what happens is when I get up in the morning and eat, 30 minutes later his belly is full so he goes to sleep. So, that is what happened yesterday. I got up, ate, and he went to sleep. He was not really active during the sono or NST. Then, after I left the dr. and got something to eat and a coke and got to the hospital he was rockin' and rollin'. Then, 30 minutes after I ate like they told me to he was not as active.
So, needless to say, I will be having a coke every time I go to the dr. for the next 5 weeks!!
Praise Jesus he is fine!!! I go back next Friday to have a dr. appt., sono, and NST. Only 5 eeks to go!!! CRAZY!!!!

A Special Gift
I was wanting to find some old toys for Grant's shelf. I wanted like an old baseball glove, baseball, bat, truck, tractor...you know stuff little boys play with. So, I called on the one person that I know who is QUEEN of old stuff--my mom. :) If you could see her apartment, you would know what I mean. It is so cute with all of the old knickknack things that she has collected through the years. So, she said she would see what she could do. Well, she went above and beyond what I could have asked for or imagined. This is her present to Grant. :)
The top two shelves are her gifts to him. I'll break it down for you to be able to see/understand what they are. This is the top shelf. The black board in the back in a chalkboard that she so creatively designed. (I'll describe it more in the next picture.) Then, there is an old mason jar of marbles and dice. There is a train, and old truck, and picture frame to match his room. There are birds eggs, since boys are all about getting into mischief and dirty things. :) And then at the front is his name (Grant Canon Purnell) written with letters from a Scrabble game. So cool!!
This is the black board/chalk board I was talking about. It has his name spelled out in Scrabble letters as well as letters from an old typewriter. She put an "Oct." block on there (since he is due/being born in Oct.). It has flashcards with his initials and "boy". I know I keep saying this, but SO COOL!!
Then, this is the sentimental shelf. My granddad (my mom's dad) was a football coach. So, that is one of his footballs, his football book, and the "N" is a letter from his letter jacket. :) Then, there is the old baseball, glove, and baseball bat. In the pictures are (in the front) one of my granddad's football pictures from when he played. The back pictures are from his team he played on and one of my mom and granddad. Such a great idea!! Thanks mom! We love it!!!
